Opening Doors

Shaftesbury

Christmas is a time for opening doors – to family, loved ones and celebration. But for many people with acquired disabilities, those doors can suddenly close. Any one of us could experience disability at any time, and our Christmas wishes could change in an instant.

Shaftesbury is the UK’s largest Christian disability charity, dedicated to supporting people with disabilities to live full and flourishing lives. Open the Door, shares the story of Matthew, whose life changed suddenly after an acquired disability. Through Shaftesbury’s support, he found new ways to communicate and engage again in the world around him. The film invites viewers to reflect on how life can change in an instant and how, with the right support, people like Matthew can begin again. It’s a heartfelt reminder that disability can affect anyone. We want this campaign to build awareness of Shaftesbury’s work and inspire donations to ensure we can continue transforming lives long after the festive season. Because with understanding and the right care, every door can be opened again.
