The 2025 Booker Prize shortlist films

The Booker Prize Foundation and Schedule Nine

The 2025 Booker Shortlist films are produced each year to broaden awareness and interest in the Booker Prize shortlist. The Booker Prize is the world’s most influential and best known literary award, but our purpose with these films is to try and reach a much wider audience of readers across the globe, and to encourage more people to read the books. We identify a section from each of the six shortlisted books we think would lend itself to an engaging performance, find an exciting director with a creative vision for the films, and then cast our films with the best, biggest, and most interesting names we can find - this year’s cast runs as follows: Stormzy, Gabrielle Creevy, Rory Kinnear, Katherine Parkinson, Shazad Latiff and Arlo Parks. The films themselves are made primarily for social distribution, and last between 2-3 minutes each, although they also feature prominently at our winner announcement ceremony and the audio from the films is used by Radio 4 in their coverage. We have seen tremendous success with previous sets of shortlist films, with last year’s films - featuring among others Will Poulter, Jason Isaacs and Adelayo Adedayo - attracting 52m combined views on social. However, this year’s films have so far attracted 70m (including paid promotion), and playthrough rates have doubled, indicating that we are not only reaching but engaging a wider audience than ever before.
